Knitted Knockers

Hobbies with Heart and Light a Sparkle have a drive on to make 600 Knitted Knockers! Please help support them by adding a kit to your order and then when you are finished knitting, there are Light a Sparkle ambassadors around the country who can take delivery.

“Knitted Knockers are hand knitted breast prosthetics for women who have undergone mastectomies or similar breast procedures. They are softer and lighter than any other prosthesis, comfortable to wear and can be placed in any regular bra. The knitted fabric breathes and prevents heat rash & discomfort.

Knitted Knockers are made by volunteer knitters all over the world and now the movement has spread to South Africa too. This is a community project.

We sell kits, to keep the highest national standard for breast cancer patients.  Each kit has the pattern, 100 % organic cotton and pure merino super wash stuffing.  The pattern has the contact phone numbers; please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any knitting queries.

Knitted Knockers South Africa use the Australian pattern copyrighted by Julie Weaver and used with her blessing. As it is a registered pattern, please do not distribute or photocopy it.

Once knitted, they are donated free of charge to those in need.

• We do not knit in wool, acrylic or any yarn other than 100% organic cotton from ColourSpun
• No harsh chemicals are used in the dyeing process
• We now have a smooth, soft crochet pattern too”
