These elastic red hearts allow knitters to smoothly pass the marker from one needle to another. As they are elastic, they are easy to insert onto needle, but the shape means they do not slip off easily.
When circular knitting, placing a marker next to the first stitch of the row makes it easier to count the number of rows.
