Join me for a RSN Sip & Stitch event on Saturday 9th November, 2024, 10am to 1pm for a fun stitch class aimed at beginners or those wanting a fun simple refresher to stitching.
Celebrate hand embroidery together to raise funds for the RSN Stitch Bank. The stitch bank aims to conserve and preserve every stitch around the globe.
Class fee will include:
a red bottom cotton tote,
needle
set of 10 x cowgirlblues mini skeins for stitching
stitch ideas,
mimosa and bite sized tea eats.
Included, instead of a tuition fee, will be R150 pp to be donated via Be Inspired to the Royal School of Needlework, which is a registered charity, and essential for the maintenance of the Stitch Bank.
The Royal School of Needlework was founded in 1872 with a mission to preserve the art of hand embroidery.
To mark its 150th anniversary the RSN launched the RSN Stitch Bank to continue this mission. The RSN Stitch Bank aims to digitally conserve and showcase the wide variety of the world’s embroidery stitches and the ways in which they have been used in different cultures and times.
The RSN Stitch Bank is an ongoing project and new stitches are added regularly. The RSN will be working with partners around the world to include stitches from different traditions.
Each stitch entry contains information about its history, use and structure as well as a step-by-step method with photographs, illustrations and video.
