NSW Merino DK is cowgirlblues first merino wool that hasn’t been superwash-treated, but otherwise it’s the same Karoo merino as their other bases. It behaves the way untreated wool does: bouncier, better stitch definition, a rustic feel, and more grip. It’s great for colour work and anything you plan to steek. Use it for any project you’d normally make in their Merino DK — just hand-wash your finished piece, because it felts REALLY easily.

The semi-solid colours are hand dyed, giving the yarn a beautiful range of colour intensity within each shade. These colour nuances make your finished projects come alive. cowgirlblues put as much care into your project as you do. Please order enough yarn for your project as colours do vary between batches. If there are not enough skeins in stock email orders@beinspired.africa with colour and quantity and I will order for you.

Good to Know
This yarn weighs slightly less than cowgirlblues standard Merino DK, but it’s loftier, so appears thicker. Non-superwash wool absorbs dye a little differently from superwash yarns, so expect colours that are slightly muted compared to the rest of the range.

Tips for Felting
Machine wash intentionally to felt projects like slippers, bags, or coasters. We’re big fans of the Sailor Slippers if you’re looking for a place to start.
Wash your knitted piece in the washing machine on a standard length, 30°C cycle. Cowgirlblues recommend knitting a swatch and measuring it before and after so you can calculate the shrinkage rate for your specific machine and cycle.
