cowgirlblues is a Cape Town-based dye house and design studio specialising in South African wool and mohair. Started by Bridget Henderson, who after an MBA at Insead, a stint at Luis Vuitton Moet Hennessy in Paris, and a successful career as a strategy consultant returned to Cape Town and took up knitting again, experimenting with texture, patterns and colour. Frustrated at not being able to find suitable wool locally, she decided to start spinning and dyeing her own, and so the cowgirlblues brand was born.
cowgirlblues Kidsilk yarn is a super luxurious and lightweight blend of kid mohair and silk. It is soft and really light to wear. Knit it with standard gauge or over-size needles. Or combines it with Twist, Lace or DK to add warmth and weight.
It’s impossible to do justice to a superstar like Madonna. She’s had so many hit songs it’s difficult to know where to start: Like a Virgin, Material Girl, Crazy For You, Into the Groove, Live To Tell, Papa Don’t Preach, True Blue, Open Your Heart. The list goes on. So think of this colourway as an ode to her evergreen music, with some rebellious Hot Pink streaks. If you’re mixing it up then Rainforest or Sage will ensure Madonna remains the star of the show. Or try Aubergine or Dusty Rose if you want to make a statement! Since our colours are hand dyed in small batches there is variation between batches, and even within a batch. We have a process and ingredients for each colour recipe, but can’t control how the colours “land” each time.
