After successfully putting out a Sox Box (not only for socks but was always sock weight yarn!) every quarter (well almost!) for 4 years, I felt it was time for a change in the format.

Following this pandemic of Covid-19 and the crash in the South African economy, I feel it is now more important than ever to support South African businesses, especially our yarn industry as we have come to realise how much we need and rely on yarn for our sanity!

Enter the Local is Lekker box. It is like Sox Box in that there will be yarn, obviously, and additions, of course THIS is Be Inspired, but there will be differences. The yarns will be South African. From SA makers and dyers. But they will not all be sock weight yarn as in the past. AND THEY ARE NOT TO BE MADE INTO SOCKS!  – Each box will focus on the range of a different SA yarn supplier or indie-dyer. There will be a postcard with pattern inspiration, and more information so that you can follow that box’s Inspirer.

Of course, a stash needs to be sorted, and filed and stored. We want you to have a source file, with different yarn types that you can refer to for a project, and so we will be including some journal pages. These will combine into a source file (which we are hoping to stock) where you can keep track of your yarn stash, your wips, and even what crochet hooks and needles you own. Each box will build on your journal pages, creating a unique source guide for you.

2 x mini 10 gram skeins of a boucle

1 mini 10 gram skein of a brushed mohair

1 mini 10 gram skein of a medium brushed mohair

1 mini 10 gram skein of a sparkly bambi

1 mini 10 gram skein of either a linen mix/other

A5 Journal pages – 2 project pages to complete with your dreams/current wip and an Adele’s Mohair stash page to stick samples and make notes to add to your stash journal.
