Creativity Cowl Karoo Gold

The Creativity Cowl is a fun, asymmetrical cowl featuring a 2 colour textured stripe pattern and polished edges. The designer suggests using hand spun or a colour-changing or variegated yarn to see the colours come to life.

The Urth Spiral Grain or the Zauberball, are as close to hand spun as you can get with a commercial yarn, and I believe the effect will be beautiful. Some of the combos have strong, unexpected contrast, whilst some will be more subtle.

Although the pattern is written for a dk yarn, it does allow for other yarn weights and gauges as you knit to measurements given in the pattern.

We will be knitting this one together as an informal knit along, which will be great for beginners new to reading patterns or for those who love the motivation that working together gives. We will run it via a dedicated what’s app group. When you buy a kit, indicate in the comments/notes section whether you would like to be added to the group.

The largest size cowl takes roughly 297 metres of fingering/sock weight in the main colour and around 151 metres in the contrast colour.

The kits with two cowgirlblues merino are 300 metres for the main (if you know you usually use more then maybe get a third cake just in case). The kit with the Big Fox has 366 metres so if knitting the larger size you will need another skein.

The Urth Spiral Grain has 180 metres so should be plenty for the contrast. The Zauberball has 420 metres.

If you would rather knit the shawl, these quantities are the same for the smaller shawl, but you will need double the main colour for the larger shawl (485 metres) and 247 metres for the contrast colour (2 skeins of the Spiral Grain, the Zauberball will work for both cowl and shawl)
