Beginners Raglan Sweater Knitting Course

This is for all knitters who want to knit their very first sweater.

If you cannot knit at all, we will need to first do a “bridging” course – contact me if that sounds like its for you!

The top down, raglan shaped sweater pattern we will be following is the Whatever sweater by Julie Knits in Paris – you will need to please purchase this pattern prior to the start of the course. It is available on Ravelry and is only Euro 2.

The course will focus on the following, broken down into 7 lessons. Some of the lessons will be on the deck, some will be via video or chat tutorials on what’s app.

Lesson 1: (Saturday 8th July 10am -12.30pm)

Choosing the right yarn, swatching, choosing the correct size, learning about positive ease

Lesson 2: (Saturday 22nd July 9am – 12 noon)

Casting on and knitting the neck ribbing

Lesson 3:

Raglan shaping

Lesson 4:

Separating for the sleeves

Lesson 5:

Knitting the body and the ribbing

Lesson 6:

Knitting the sleeves

Lesson 7:

Blocking and finishing

The course fee is payable in three instalments (R500 on booking to confirm, R500 end of June, R500 end of July) and the majority of the fee will be given back in the form of shop credit to put towards the yarn and or needles etc that you will require. The pattern cost is extra and you need to purchase the pattern in addition to the course fees.

Tea/coffee and cake will be provided for deck lessons, and is included in the cost.

Your voucher back will be to the value of R1000 to be spent in the shop, on yarn, or accessories/tools for this sweater.

PLEASE NOTE: ALTHOUGH MOST OF THE LESSONS WILL BE IN PERSON, YOU ARE WELCOME TO SIGN UP IF YOU LIVE AFAR. WE CAN STILL ZOOM/VIDEO CHAT AND THERE WILL BE A WHAT’S APP SUPPORT GROUP AS WELL.
