It’s been three years since I wrote a blog post. Oh I am active on social media – I have to control myself because I love sharing what I do – but all the real writing I do is my newsletters.
I closed my studio on the 27th March 2020. Since then, we have had a few Wednesday deck socials, when the Covid numbers were down, we had a charity workshop for the persian cats at PCRD, and we had a small polymer clay workshop. That is it. In a year. My livelihood, and I don’t just mean financially, but the reason I do what I do was rudely taken away.
The tours with international crochet designers, the travelling pop up shops, the retreat, all my workshops, late night shopping, Saturday socials – everything that makes Be Inspired INSPIRED are not safe anymore.
So what do you do when you reason is taken away? You adapt. Hence the online workshops. I did a few informal ones last year, but now it is time to formalise them. I will be putting out a schedule sometime soon. Crochet and Knitting workshops on Zoom, with whats app support groups. Already one loaded for a colour work cowl – you pay for the yarn, the lessons and support are on me.
Let’s keep on creating together, even if the world looks different – we are crafters, let us craft our new world to suit us
